This afternoon is an invitation to turn toward yourself with warmth and curiosity – to soften your relationship with yourself and explore your experience with kindness.
Many of us are our own toughest critics. We often push ourselves to do more, to get things right, or to meet everyone’s expectations – and along the way, it’s easy for us to lose touch with our inner warmth and gentleness.
Mindful Self-Compassion offers a way to build a friendlier, more supportive relationship with who we are. This workshop invites you to gently nourish that inner connection and to welcome more warmth, care, and compassion towards yourself. A nourished and kind heart also allows us to extend compassion outwards – bringing more ease and openness also into our relationships with others.
WHAT TO EXPECT
You’ll be guided through a few practices and meditations from the Mindful Self-Compassion (MSC) program developed by Kristin Neff and Christopher Germer.
Over this 90-minute introduction, participants will learn the key theoretical ideas behind MSC and practice specific techniques that foster self-compassion. These techniques are readily learnable for you to take home and practice in your day-to-day life. During the session, it’s possible to share reflections on your experience, or write them down privately in your journal.
This introductory workshop ultimately sees self-compassion as an inner resource that can be developed. It can become like a kind friend who’s always on your side, offering support through the highs and lows of life. This afternoon gives you a first taste of what it’s like to practice that kind of inner care.
The session will be held in English or German depending on the participants. You’re welcome to bring a journal to reflect on your experiences during the practices.
ABOUT MARIA
Maria is a clinical psychologist and psychotherapist with a deep interest in integrating mindfulness, acceptance, and self-compassion into both her professional work and everyday life. Her way of teaching is gentle, calm, and open-minded, offering a safe and welcoming space for participants to explore their own experience with curiosity and care.
As a trainee of the full 8-week Mindful Self-Compassion (MSC) program, she looks forward to sharing some of its core principles and practices in this workshop.
Please be aware that this session is not psychotherapy, and Maria is (legally) not in her role as a psychotherapist, but rather a workshop leader.
